After a black weekend, cryptocurrencies rebounded by more than 10 percent. The most popular ones, Bitcoin and Ethereum, have been trading down since November last year, and have lost 70 percent so far this year. Cryptocurrencies moved some 60 billion euros in Spain last year.
EurocoinPay®, a company from León, has created a virtual POS to be able to pay with them in shops.
“The customer chooses which cryptocurrency he wants to pay with….
… and the merchant chooses with which cryptocurrency or currency he wishes to be paid”.
The Bank of Spain has recognised it as a cryptocurrency custodian and virtual currency exchange provider, i.e. it is included in the register of providers of services for the exchange of virtual currency for fiat currency and the custody of electronic wallets, a publication that came into effect on 16 June.

But the company’s adventure began in 2013 in the United States. Herminio travelled to America to learn about blockchain technology. There he trained and saw the potential that cryptocurrencies could have. Today his company, EurocoinPay®, offers the only immediate, universal and comprehensive crypto POS in our country.
Can you imagine paying for a coffee or a loaf of bread with bitcoins?
Now, thanks to a company from León, it is possible. And all immediately and without the need for miners to verify the transaction. Its dataphone is unique. It can be implemented both in physical shops, through a mobile App, and in online shops, through an e-commerce integration module, where it appears at the end of the purchase as a payment method with cryptocurrencies.

It is in their immediacy that their potential lies: as soon as the payment is accepted, they sell the pro rata share of the currency in the market and refund the merchant in the currency of their choice.
It is a disruptive technology that has attracted the attention of large companies, such as Naturgy, with which they have recently signed an agreement to be able to pay electricity and gas bills. “We are now in negotiations with a large textile company with more than 80 million customers worldwide”, says Herminio Fernández, CEO of EurocoinPay®.
They are currently working with the University of Salamanca to incorporate artificial intelligence and will soon add the option of bizum with cryptocurrencies.
They are present all over the world, from the United States to Japan. In our community, around a hundred businesses already have their own virtual dataphone to pay with cryptocurrencies.
